Best Hostels in Palermo

What to Consider When Booking a Hostel in Palermo

The majority of the best hostels in Palermo were reviewed highly already, which made the job of choosing them much easier.

However, there were a few other factors that were taken into consideration when compiling this list. These not only apply to Palermo hostels but any hostel you stay at!

  • Check out time – The standard time for check out in hostels is 10:00 am. This can vary depending on where you stay, but it’s almost always the case in Italy. If you want to check out a bit later, ask the reception at your hostel. They may be able to accommodate you if you’re lucky!
  • Free breakfast – This is always a factor when I book a hostel. Getting a free breakfast makes a massive difference, especially if you’re a penny-pinching backpacker. Travelling in Italy can be expensive, it’s nice to know that you won’t have to pay for one meal a day during your trip!
  • Free wifi – Most of the hostels in Palermo offer free wifi, but some still don’t. Paying for wifi adds another unnecessary expense to your trip. Try and find hostels that offer free wifi, and you’ll have a few extra Euros in your pocket!
  • Laundry services – It’s rare to find a hostel that offers free laundry, I’ve not come across one yet. However, going to a hostel that does have laundry facilities is a huge plus and will save you trekking around town trying to find a launderette!
  • Kitchen – A kitchen is simply a must when you are staying at a hostel. Without one, you will be paying a shedload of money to feed yourself. This can be hit-and-miss at times in Italy. Always double-check whether the hostel has a kitchen. If they don’t, you could end up forking out on a huge bill otherwise!
