If you want to save money on your trip, you’ll want to stay in a hostel with a kitchen. Otherwise, you will be spending a lot eating out!
Below are a few factors you should take into consideration before booking your Barcelona hostel.
- Check out time – Most hostels operate a 10:00 am check out time, although this can vary depending on the hostel. If you plan on partying late before you leave, you may want to look for a hostel that has a check out time later than 10 am.

The hostel has a beautiful outdoor terrace, which you can take advantage of when the weather is at its best. The rooms are bright and spacious, with very comfy beds.
One plus is that the hostel has a kitchen, this can be an issue with some hostels in Barcelona, but not with Barcelona Central Garden!
There is also a cosy common room for you to use, should you need some time to relax. Barcelona Central Garden is an ideal place to stay in Barcelona if you want to be around the centre of the city!
BCNsporthostels
BCNsporthostels is one of the quirkier hostels in Barcelona. As the name suggests, it’s based on a sports theme. If you’re a sports lover, you’ll love to stay here.
The hostel is located in Barcelona’s popular Gracia neighbourhood, which isn’t far from the centre of the city.
The rooms are beautifully laid out, modern and clean, while the outdoor terrace is a great place to relax on a sunny day.
One of the best things about the hostel is the fitness centre associated with the hostel. You can use this as well as the steam room, hot tub and swimming pools too.
BCNsporthostels is one of the best backpackers in Barcelona, whether you love sports or not!
Casa Gracia Barcelona Hostel
This is one of the best hostels in Barcelona to stay at if you want to stay in a stylish hostel. Casa Gracia is located on one of the most stylish boulevards in the city, Passeig de Gracia.
This hostel is what can only be described as a flashpackers. The rooms are very stylish and spacious and are mostly without bunk beds, which is unusual for a hostel.
Casa Gracia has a number of great facilities such as a common room with games and a TV, and a beautiful outdoor terrace. There is also free tea and coffee available 24 hours a day.
Perhaps the best thing about the hostel is its location. It’s in an ideal spot midway between Placa Catalunya and Gracia.
For me, Casa Gracia is arguably the best hostel in Barcelona!
Generator Barcelona
The Generator is without a doubt one of the best backpacker hostels in Barcelona for couples and solo travellers alike!
Located in Garcia not far from the end of the famous Passeig de Gracia Boulevard, it’s a stylish and modern hostel that is great for meeting new people!
The rooms are spacious and clean, with super-friendly staff who can help you with all of your queries!
Cool features of the hostel include the 7th floor, which has a great view of Sagrada Familia, while there are a number of rooms that have their own terrace!
If you want to stay in a vibrant and cheap hostel in Barcelona, the Generator is a great choice if you decide to visit Barcelona!
HelloBCN
HelloBCN was the first hostel in Barcelona that I stayed in, and it was a lovely place not far from Placa Espana.
It’s located just off Avinguda Parallel and is a few minutes walk to Las Ramblas. The staff here were lovely and were fully conversant in English, which greatly helped me as my Spanish was minimal at the time.
The rooms weren’t overly spacious, but there was more than enough space to move around, and they weren’t overly cramped.
Downstairs, you can use the computers for free, and the hostel organises a number of social activities, which are well worth checking out!
HelloBCN is definitely one of the best hostels in Barcelona for solo travellers if you’re looking to make some travel buddies on the road!
Hostel One Paralelo
Hostel One Paralelo is a nice hostel in Barcelona to stay at if you want to be close to the action and like to party.
It’s located close to Las Ramblas and near Avinguda Parallel. This hostel comes into its own with the number of free activities it has.
You can go on free walking tours, and there are also free dinners and free parties in the hostel, which are a great way to meet fellow travellers.
The rooms here are spacious and clean and the dorms have cool pull-out drawers, where you can store your belongings securely and safely!
Hostel One Paralelo is without a doubt, one of the best hostels in Barcelona for solo travellers and those in groups too!
Itaca Hostel
Itaca Hostel is a great choice if you want to be centrally located during your stay in Barcelona.
Some of the best places to visit in Barcelona such as Las Ramblas and the Gothic are a stone’s throw away due to the hostel’s central location near Placa de Catalunya.
The rooms in the hostel are spacious, well-light and have comfortable beds, while there is a common room for you to relax in too!
A great thing about Itaca Hostel is that they have free walking tours every day, which are a great way to explore the city. It’s without a doubt one of the top hostels in Barcelona!
Mediterranean Youth Hostel
The Mediterranean Youth Hostel is a good place to stay in Barcelona if you’re a solo traveller who wants to meet people on their travels.
This cool hostel not far from famous landmarks such as Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera is definitely one of the best hostels in Barcelona!
The clean and spacious rooms are a delight to stay in, while the hostel has some great facilities. These include a common room, cable TV, and a pool table.

It’s located in Garcia not far from Gaudi’s famous Parc Guell. The hostel is clean, spacious and friendly, and the rooms here are great. Every bed comes with its own plug socket, which is handy in this day and age!
The beds are designed in a box system, which means you have more privacy than the average hostel. Plus the beds are comfy too, and there are lockers under the bed for you to store your items!
A modern and vibrant hostel, Rocket Hostels Gracia offers some of the best cheap accommodation in Barcelona for travellers of all types!
St Christopher’s Barcelona
If you’re looking for one of the best party hostels in Barcelona, St Christopher’s is the place for you!
The hostel is located at the top of Las Ramblas close to Placa Catalunya and has its own bar on site! The hostel also has guest-list access to Barcelona’s beachside nightclubs!
The rooms here are spacious and come complete with private curtains for each bed, which is not common in most hostels!
If you want to party while you’re in Barcelona, St Christopher’s is the place to stay. However, if you’re after a quieter trip, it may be worth looking at alternative hostels!
Urbany Hostel BCN
The Urbany Hostel BCN is without a doubt one of the top hostels in Barcelona.
I stayed here for two weeks, while I was looking for a room, and found the hostel to be a great place to stay at. The staff here were lovely and helped me out with my multiple queries.
The rooms were spacious, and the beds were very comfy. The rooms contain their own toilets and showers, which make life a lot easier!
I met a few cool people here too, which is always a bonus if you’re travelling by yourself!
Urbany is located close to Sagrada Familia, although this is away from the city centre, it’s still a hostel in Barcelona you should definitely consider!
If you’re visiting Barcelona for 3 days, it’s an ideal place to stay!
Yeah Hostel Barcelona
Yeah Hostel Barcelona is an interesting hostel that should be high on your list of considerations for where to stay in Barcelona.
It’s located between Passeig de Gracia and Sagrada Familia in an ideal part of the city, as it’s not far away from the action!
The rooms here a spacious, clean and modern, with the attentive staff really looking after you.
The big common room is one of the plus points of the hostel, and is a great place to relax after a long day exploring the city.
One downside to Yeah Hostel Barcelona is the lack of a kitchen, but otherwise, it’s definitely one of the cheap hostels in Barcelona to consider staying at!
